All tracks consist of 5 octaves of the note C with the exception of
tracks 65-68--these sounds had little or no transposition throughout
their range. Due to the greatly varying nature and tonal qualities of
the sounds in this collection, the length of the samples in each track
will vary. However, each note within a given track will always have the
same duration. As a rule, we insured that the note durations were
always long enough to allow the full spectrum of a sound to develop.
Tracks 70, 71 & 72 consist of reference sine-wave tones at the
frequencies of 100 HZ, 1000 kHz and 10 kHz respectively, and may be used
to set a nominal input gain level on the sampler you are using. They
may also be used as alignment tones for calibrating analog recording
equipment.
